The SIBO-Histamine Connection

Hi Everyone, Happy February

In my recent interview with HealthCentral.com, I discuss how common symptoms like bloating and fatigue could be linked to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). SIBO is especially prevalent in individuals with histamine intolerance. If you or someone you know experiences histamine-related issues, mast cell-related problems, or mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), it's worth considering SIBO as a potential underlying cause.

🔴Hydrogen-SIBO changes how your genes are expressed and causes more histamine release. This can create symptoms like headache, bloating, rashes, flushing ( and more).

🔴If you treat SIBO, the histamine-related symptoms typically improve. The first step is getting a diagnosis. See my articles below and the new interview with Healthcentral.com at the button for more information.

Mental Health Bonus Note: Finding Common Ground

Our country is deeply divided, and this division is contributing to increased anxiety and other mental health concerns. As a doctor, I feel it's important to share this perspective.

We often live in information bubbles, where the news we see is shaped by our reading habits, reinforcing divisions. To break out of these silos, I recommend exploring Ground News—which is not a news source but a tool that provides an overview of how different media outlets report on the same topic. It includes a bias scale, showing how various sources—across the political spectrum—frame an issue. It also shows the factuality of each news story. Find FAQs here about how Ground News works.

By gaining a broader perspective and by reading factual information, we can foster understanding, find common ground, and rebuild a sense of unity with kindness and acceptance. While much work is needed, this is a small but meaningful step. I have no affiliation with Ground News, but I believe how information is presented has played a role in our divisions, and I want to be part of the change.

Stay well, Dr. Burkhart
